About Cucumbers- Cultivation  

 Plant after soil has warmed to 65 degrees. Direct sow 1/2"-1" deep and 6-12" apart. Thin to 18-24" saving the strongest plants. Control weeds and cucumber beetles. Harvest frequently to encourage growth. Pick slicers while texture and color are still true. Pick picklers at 2-4" stage.

Double Yield Cucumber   Developed by a home gardener and introduced in 1924 by Joseph Harris & Co. of coldwater, New York. In the words of the introducer, "The remarkable thing about this new cucumber is its wonderful productiveness. For every pickle that is cut off, two or three more are produced." EARLY FORTUNE CUCUMBER  was developed in 1910 by the Jerome B. Rice Seed Company of Cambridge, New York, who described it as "the earliest and best white spine cucumber ever offered." Fruits are 7-8" long by 2" in diameter. 55-60 days.   (Heirloom)
