About Pumpkins-Cultivation

Plant about 100-120 days before the first expected fall frost date. Here in zone 5, that is about the first of June. Enrich soil with lots of compost because pumpkins are very heavy feeders. Place seeds 1-1.5" deep, 2-3' apart in a row spacing of 8-12'. Work hard to control insects! Before frost, cut mature pumpkin as close to the vine as possible to provide a handle. Pumpkins will store for a long time in a cool dry place if not exposed to a frost or disease.
