About Winter Squash Cultivation
Plant seeds 1/2-1" deep, 2-3 seeds per hill, spaced 2-3' apart in late spring or early summer. After emergence, thin to one healthy plant per hill. Harvest before heavy frost. Cut stems about 1" from fruit when stem is drying and skin of fruit is hard. If you can puncture the skin with your fingernail, the fruit is not ripe. Use fresh or store in a cool, dry place for later use.
